Reporting to the Chief Business Officer, this role will primarily be responsible for identifying, evaluating and negotiating new business opportunities and managing subsequent partnerships in support of Connect’s strategy and business objectives. In addition, this role will help to establish the Corporate Development infrastructure and processes required for Connect’s success. Candidates will be highly experienced, flexible, thorough, and comfortable working on time-critical projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Corporate Development – Global ex-China
    • Contributes to Corporate Strategy development and functional processes
    • Cultivates scientific and business relationships with peers, academia, KOL’s, potential partners and other stakeholders
    • Coordinate with China corporate development team to ensure effective communication, alignment, and implementation of China activities
  • Search & Evaluation (S&E) – Global ex-China
    • Proactively identify and lead Connect’s internal evaluation process for assessing external opportunities that could enhance Connect’s pre-clinical and clinical portfolio, in line with Connect’s strategy, in collaboration with key internal and external functional stakeholders.
  • Business Development & Licensing (BD&L) – Global ex-China
    • Assess and develop partnership options for licensing, distribution, M&A opportunities and R&D collaborations, maximizing Connect’s products globally, with a focus on US, EU, China & Japan
    • Lead diligence, negotiation and transaction of BD&L opportunities, leveraging scientific, product focused, market landscape and disease insights obtained through collaboration with internal and external functional experts.
    • Ensure optimal value creation for Connect and partners in a win:win scenario.
  • Alliance Management (AM) – Global ex-China
    • Establish Connect as a preferred strategic partner of choice
      • Proactively lead and project manage the alliance lifecycle for all assigned alliances in collaboration with internal Connect functional leads.
      • Collaborate with external and internal key stakeholders to establish a strong working relationship, manage key issues, ensure effective governance, drive successful execution of partnered assets
    • Ensure subject matter expertise on the contractual agreements and proactively monitor contractual obligations and deliverables for both Connect and its alliance partner to ensure responsibilities are met, ensuring deviations from contractual terms are managed and mitigated.


  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in scientific or business related discipline with 10+ years of experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, with a broad understanding of drug discovery, clinical development and major pharmaceutical market commercial & market access environment (US, EU5, Japan, China).
  • MD, PhD or Masters degree in a science or business related discipline (Desirable)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a corporate development role working directly in a role with either S&E / BD&L or Alliance management responsibilities, with demonstrated understanding of business development processes and track record of completion of transactions
  • Entrepreneurial mindset to help shape and build Corporate Development function and processes within Connect.
  • Excellent communicator, and collaborator, able to influence others without line or positional authority across scientific and commercial functions
    • Able to communicate complex information succinctly and provide evidence based analysis to support recommendations and decisions.
  • Logical thinker with a high attention to detail and necessary business processes
  • Strong project management skills, particularly of complex deal structures
